Boy without a kite.

This is my version of 'a happy family flying a kite on the beach'.

Next stop, the Yukon

"I get to go to lots of overseas places, like Canada." -- Britney Spears, when asked the best part of being famous.

Well I got to go there too!

Paris Photo et al

Last night we returned home from Paris. Ideally we would have been sponsored for a charity, we did so much walking. Still all for a good cause though. Soak up a bit of art and blow away the cobwebs that build up under the stifling tarpaulin that is the day to day 9 to 5 (or is the 5am - 9pm?).
We kicked off with 4.5 hours at Paris Photo. I have to be honest and say how much I liked it. It was very inspiring. Interesting to see how many digital prints are now accepted by the high end art market. Some of those film purists aren't shy about scanning the neg. They might shoot on neg and print on C types but the darkroom bit is digital. Who cares? Not me, just tickles a bit. I see that $40,000+ prints are plagued by the same fringing I have to deal with.

We balance Paris Photo with the Nofound Photo Fair. Very different gear, much more raw than Paris Photo. Rough and ready comes to mind. You don't have to like the handwriting of an author to be touched by the words. The same is true with photography. Photographers should remember that beautiful handwriting that says nothing is nothing.

Joesph Beuys at Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac and then Jospeh Beuys and more at Centre pompidou. The smell of his felt pulls triggers.

Essex Apocalypse

Had fun last night thanks to the folk at Terry's allotment. It's surprising how well UPVC doors burn. What is not surprising is how much guys like to torch and explode things. Health & Safety gone mad it isn't. The last two images show the desperate & ultimately futile struggle to retrieve potatoes cooking at around 1000c.

Coming Home

Whilst working on my new project Mike Rhodes brings us home in his 1964 Piper Cherokee.
Well nearly. I was staying at the Comfort Inn. Would have prefered a pad near the runway though...........

Forget turning left. Where do I book this?

Economy, Premium Economy, First. This is now the only way!
